Abba Inlagd Sill – Herring in Traditional Marinade 240g

Abba Grebbestads Ansjovis - Traditionally Swedish spiced sprat fillets. These 'Ansjovis' may sound like they are anchovies, but no. They are small sprats (baby herring), which is a much milder taste than anchovies. The most common use for these, are in 'Jansson's Temptation' - a potato gratin that is usually served on the big occasions like Easter and Christmas. Please don't make it with regular anchovies though, the flavour will be too overpowering. This is a chilled product.

Abba Senapssill is a popular, Swedish pickled herring in a mustard flavoured marinade. 

Enjoy it the traditional way with potatoes and a dollop of sour cream. New potatoes boiled with dill sprigs, served with plenty of butter also make a fantastic pairing to the sill. 

Herring also tastes great on rye bread – on its own or paired with boiled egg and beetroot salad. 

This has the familiar Scandi-style sweet and pickled taste to it - not to be confused with Surstromming, the fermented and smelly type.
