Time Out - Scandinavian Kitchen

JOBS

From time to time, some of our wonderful team in the cafe or warehouse have to move on.  It's only natural.  Some come to London from Scandinavia to have a bit of a gap year before going back to study...  Some stick around longer because they end up studying here or simply settling down.

Whatever their story, every one of the people who have worked with us have had some great qualities in common:  they have all been really nice and easy to be around people and every single person we have had join our team has had a story and has brough something to the table.  For that, we are immensely proud and happy.  We truly are blessed to have really great people to work with.

This is why when we have a spot for a new person to join us, we look for those qualities again and again.

Contrary to what you may think, you don't have to be Scandinavian to work here.  We do prefer it when people come along with a good idea about Scandinavian cuisine, about Scandinavian food in general - and knowing a bit of one of the languages is a great help. However, it is absolutely not essential to be from a Nordic country.

For all job enquiries, mail bronte@scandikitchen.co.uk

CURRENT VACANCIES

Vacancy: Office Administrator                LOCATION:  London NW (Park Royal)

Scandinavian Kitchen is a shop, deli and cafe in Central London – and a wholesale/warehouse/web-shop with an office in North West London. We supply people and businesses across the UK with herrings, crisp bread and more (from that nice Mrs Olsson in the West Country to big guys like Ocado). Currently, our office is in Kensal Green but moving office and warehouse to Park Royal soon.

We’re looking for an experienced Office Administrator to come sort everything out. This includes:

  • Light book keeping duties and bank reconciliations
  • Simple data entry into Quick Books, invoicing and credit control, when needed
  • Office administration: Run the office, keep it organised and well ordered.
  • First line of Customer Service replies both phone and e-mails to all our customers – both individuals and wholesale – and help them sort their ordering issues
  • Some HR administrative duties and some basic PA duties for Founders

Requirements

  • Previous office admin experience essential – we want someone to hit the ground running.
  • Some experience of book keeping and using an accountancy package and understanding of basic accountancy practises.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in person, phone and e-mail (although mostly, feel free to work in your tracksuit, we don’t get too many visitors at the office)
  • Super organised.  Read that again:  Super.  Organised.
  • Really sharp attention to detail.
  • Good on Excel and other office packages and general IT savvy. We use Excel a lot.
  • Can work on own initiative – and show good logic and problem solving skills.
  • Being able to speak Danish/Swedish or Norwegian is a massive plus because a lot of the correspondence will be in a Scandinavian language. It isn’t essential, but a massive help.

Hours

5 days a week, approximately 5 hours a day (or 6 hours a day over 4 day/week).

Please pop an e-mail over to bronte@scandikitchen.co.uk if interested – include a CV and a bit about yourself and why you think this role might just be up your street.

Job is expected to start as soon as we find the right person – we expect interviews to take place last week in May.  Salary depending on experience.
